What are Senior Care Problems?
Senior Care (Old Age Care) Problems
Increasing infirmity and the label "geriatric" or "senior" lead to awkward changes in life involving support from family, friends and neighbours and the difficult decisions about residential care, nursing homes and money problems linked to that.It is a particularly difficult time of life due to the magnitude of the issues and the decreased ability to cope with them. Due to the differences in mortality this problem is more often one for the older women rather than men.
This community splits into two, with the carer who will have a completely different view of the problems involved often on one side and the person cared for on the other.
Health Issues
Health problems may become apparent in people at this stage in life including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes and cancer. Psychologically there is an increasing incidence of anxiety and depression in this age group.
The senior may well need extra help from a carer or suffer mobility difficulties or incontinence.
