What is Physical Disability?
Physical Disability
Mobility Problems
Mobility difficulty may be present from birth as a result of things occurring in pregnancy and delivery such as cerebral palsy, which may be a result of birth trauma or genetic problems like spina bifida, osteogenesis imperfecta, hydrocephalus, muscular dystrophy or myasthenia gravis. Mobility difficulties may crop up later in life caused by diseases like multiple sclerosis or of amputation of limbs as a result of high blood pressure, diabetes or gangrene due to smoking.
Physical Disability may also be a result of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Multiple Sclerosis or the degenerative changes of Old Age.
Lastly it may be due to injury or accident, resulting in amputation
Whatever the cause it is an event that completely reshapes a person's life and leads to unexpected changes in every area. It is potentially a frightening and distressing event whether the victim is an amputee or victim of stroke.
Mobility problems often exist with learning difficulties.
