Traditional Chinese Medicine

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), is an ages old traditional system which employs Chinese Herbs, Acupuncture and a massage technique known as Tuina.
It is based on the ideas that the treatments should be based on the symptoms and the recognition of the whole patient as an entity, rather than the western concept of an organ system and diagnosis based on pathology of that system.
It is a complex system involving yin/yang, the five elements and qi.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of Natural Remedies from Shared Care's world therapies together with Asian Bodywork Therapy and Ayurveda.
For details about how we classify our natural remedies and the lists see the natural remedies home page
Traditional Chinese Medicine - Dr Aiping Zhang
With a history of 2000 to 3000 years, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has formed a unique system to diagnose and cure illness. The TCM approach is fundamentally different from that of Western medicine. In TCM, the understanding of the human body is based on the holistic understanding of the universe as described in Daoism, and the treatment of illness is based primarily on the diagnosis and differentiation of syndromes.
