Why the Therapies List is as it is
We have given considerable thought to the categorisation of therapies. The list is primarily for the patient and as far as possible those listed are fairly well recognised and/or can be differentiated in the lay mind. As an example we have subsumed most hypnosis based therapies under hypnosis on the grounds that the layman can have an idea, however vague, about it. We feel that the other modalities are best listed under the main therapy group and can be added in the practitioners comments field and the relative virtues of one form rather than another can discussed on a one to one basis where the practitioner has the opportunity to explain in depth why they think that any particular approach is especially suitable for that patient.
Having said that the site is in evolution and we will add other therapies.
About Us
Shared Care was derived about 2000 by myself and a former patient of mine (I'm a retired GP and hypnotherapist of 30 years standing). My colleague Mr Philip Kilner is a Database Developer and works full time. I retired in 2000 and we both work on the site in our spare time. We live in Harrogate in North Yorkshire and the organisation is a registered company (03815212) with Phil and myself as directors. We felt that there was no single site that matched health and life issues with therapies, helpful products and services and we wanted to set up a freely available gazetteer that would match the problem to the solution. Secondly we felt that all other sites involved someone "who knows" speaking down to the user and wanted this to be a truly community site.

Why is my Entry Free?
The site uses freeware and other than our time we have few costs. This enables us to provide the basic entries free of charge. Google ads and Amazon "Superstore" and book sales provide income. These are clearly delimited in the lefthand sidebar box called "Shopping Zone" and the google ads to the right side bar marked in red. Any other entry is recommended by community members and must be taken as a personal recommendation rather than commercial advertising.
If you need any further help or advice contact us by email to "editor(at)shared-care.com" with apologies for the (at). Please type and replace the (at) with @. Blame our spamming friends and their spambots.
